Setting up My Data Science Environment (Anaconda & Misc) on Ubuntu 18.04

Summary of Installed Software:

Installing Sublime Text 3

You can install a .deb package, but installing the apt package is so much better in the long rung.

Add APT Key:

wget -qO - https://download.sublimetext.com/sublimehq-pub.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

Add the repo to the sources list:

echo "deb https://download.sublimetext.com/ apt/stable/" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sublime-text.list

Update & Install Sublime Text 3:

sudo apt-get update -y && sudo apt sublime-text -y

Installing Anaconda 3

Navigating to /tmp directory (all files here will be deleted after reboot), downloading the latest install script from Anaconda and executing:

cd /tmp && wget https://repo.anaconda.com/archive/Anaconda3-2019.10-Linux-x86_64.sh && bash Anaconda3-2019.10-Linux-x86_64.sh

Follow prompts, after install trying to run conda I got “command not found”, so I had to import Anaconda into my $PATH and reboot:

export PATH=~/anaconda3/bin:$PATH

Installing Git Kraken

Nice and easy, navigate to /tmp and download latest .deb package, and install using Debian/Ubuntu package manager.

cd /tmp && wget https://release.gitkraken.com/linux/gitkraken-amd64.deb && sudo dpkg -i gitkraken-amd64.deb

Ta-dah!
